I have been here for the last one month. Pristine beaches, lovely people, space that is simply captivating and awesome. And there is the unique West Indian humour that is pretty evident.

# I had a guy and a lady , member of the bank staff (where I work) to receive me from the Airport in Providenciales. When I got dropped in the Apartment, I thanked her and she replied saying that I’m like her son and I need not thank her. While she was saying that, this guy interrupted and asked her if HE is not her son. She immediately replied - “You are the kind of son that a mom will love only on his pay-day”!!

# One other day, In the middle of the banking hall, a male staff member was actually showing off his tummy and shouting that something had bitten him badly and it was paining like hell ! There came an immediate reply from one of the corners – "May be it’s the chicken from inside" ;-) He checked with the Doctor regarding that unbearable pain and found that it was a Spider bite.
You must have guessed it by now- Next day, we all knew how to call him – "SPIDER MAN".

# My turn ;-) – I was at my desk when one of the staff barged in to ask a question while I was in the middle of some important work..….apparantely she realized that I was busy and checked if she was wasting my time, quite apologitically. I responded (obviously, on a lighter note) – “Don’t worry, I won't let you waste my time. I’m good at that, so I won't let anyone do that for me" ;-)Thayirsaadhamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10631677748262672177noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12034959.post-1133111789999283872005-11-27T09:10:00.000-08:002005-11-27T09:18:41.566-08:00Vidivu Kaalamlaloo pullu thillu mullu
nikka vechu suttu kollu ;-)

indha news enaku theriyaama pochu ?!

Bihar'ku vidivu kaalamdhaan.Thayirsaadhamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10631677748262672177noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12034959.post-1132946318008385652005-11-25T11:11:00.000-08:002005-11-25T11:22:44.670-08:00Quiz time folks 8-DFeed your mind - See if you can answer these questions...

1.Which company’s punchline is “The World's Networking Company”?

2.Which computer related word is derived from a latin word meaning “walking”?

3.Which company goes by the tagline – “Simplifly”?

4.Which company’s name is derived from the Latin word meaning "I roll"?

5. (He he, I still have it, you listening Mr.Sambhar?)

As an extension of that, I started wondering how much blogsites can do in order to promote their own and other sites/products.

Imagine MTR or sakthi sambhar masala Ad pop-up when you land at this site, or an exagerrated situation where a company starts producing Thayirsaadham mix in order to put up their banner Ads at this popular site ;-D.

I can even foresee people selling or buying up a blogsite to ride on the credibility and the hit rates that a blogsite attract(as if these guys would let that happen!).

'Ads by google' is already a familiar box which one would like to ignore in most of the blogsites unless you have a deal with someone like these guys had.

The point is to get your hit rate and reviews going much ahead of other sites. everybody's watching you see.

Thayirsaadhamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10631677748262672177noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12034959.post-1123939173388976762005-08-22T05:42:00.000-07:002005-11-29T14:57:59.063-08:00"You Never Forget Your First Time"I have been wanting to post this since the time I flew Kingfisher airline on a domestic leg in India. The moment I saw the e-ticket, I had the impression of flying a low cost airline. But then, I was proved wrong. Just when I reached the airport and got-off the car, I saw these helpers from this airline waiting for passengers to help them carry their baggage into the airport. You can easily recognise them with their red dress and the kingfisher logo on them. One of them came over to me and asked politely if I was flying Kingfisher. When I said yes, He offered to carry my baggage till the screening area and then on to the check-in counter.

I was even pleased with the way the lady at the check-in counter treated me and the good experience was carried on even to the plane. It was an 'ALL ECONOMY CLASS' flight with wider seats with personal screen on each one of them!. You get amazing hot food and goodies that included key chain,head-phone,candies all packed in a nice red pouch that can be used to carry your mobile phone or your sun-glasses.

Mind you, when I saw the fare on the ticket, I really had an impression that it was a low-cost carrier. So what I have come to understand is that there are full-cost carriers and there are low-cost no-frills airline and there are these 'value for money' airlines in between which are in existence.

And particularly about kingfisher, we know that it is owned by Vijay mallya. A person who I always prefer to call as the 'Richard Branson of India'. For your information, Richard Branson is the man at the helm of Virgin group and also owns Virgin Atlantic airways. I have not flown Virgin Atlantic, But I have read that the Virgin planes spoil customers with far superior service and choices.

They both are very similar in more than one characteristics. They are flamboyant, make enormous wealth, very powerful, so on.So I'm not surprised that they both have a strong red theme around their airlines.

Like the Virgin Ad goes,"You never forget your first time....". I truly agree with this advertisement in relation to flying Kingfisher Airlines.

If you consider the airline industry in India, The changes that are going through are as fast as these aircraft fly. And as consumers, we are treated with plethora of choices that are real value for money.
Thayirsaadhamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10631677748262672177noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12034959.post-1123934813283100272005-08-15T04:47:00.000-07:002005-08-15T03:17:22.536-07:00Ippove ........Mylapore Anjaneyar koviluku poiyu vadamalai saamiku saathitu, adha appadiye eduthundu veetuku poiyu mounaraagam padam paarthunde saapidanum pola iruku.

Madras veyilla marina beachku poiyu masala vadai and vaazhakaa bajji vaangi saapidanum pola iruku.

Vaigai expressla second class ticket eduthu, pulisaadham and potato curry pack pannindu vegamaa pora trainla saapidanum pola iruku.

Veetula "Indhiya tholaikaatchigalil mudhal muraiyaaga...." channel paarthunde Amma pannina Adai aviyal saapidanum pola iruku.

Seri, idhelaam romba too muchnu neenga feel panninaa, enaku romba pudicha Thayirsaadham atleast saapidanum pola iruku.

Ippo naan 'karupudhaan enaku pudicha kalaru' continentla iruken. We are Identical twins, even now. He works in Hyderabad and I work in Bangalore. It is so much fun having someone who is so identical that it gets you into some hilarious situations.

My brother is married for 4 years now and has a lovely boy who is just about 7 months old. I remember distinctly – During my Engagement that happened few months ago, I saw someone greeting my brother for engagement which is supposedly for ME! That is still better considering the fact that somebody asked me how my kid is! This is disastrous, right?

When both of us were working in Chennai, We bump into each other's colleagues who refused to believe that I was not him (or he was not me??)

There has been situations where he got to have sweets and paayasams twice. You guessed it how, obviously. I believe my Thatha & paati could not recognise who is who till their last breath.

There is this joke in our family that his father-in-law gave him a gold bracelet for his wedding just to identify easily who his ‘maapiley’ is ;-D!

He is particularly special to me and has similar likes, dislikes, preference, priorities, interest etc just like the looks. Sometimes I'm astonished that we actually think so much alike (somethings as trivial as buying same brand of tooth brush and the same colour, though living in different city!!). It is extremely nice to have him around as we both have a great sense of humour and understanding.

Not many experience this – when my Brother wishes me on my birthday and I reciprocate by saying ‘same to you’ daa! It is absolutely thrilling.

My Brother – My biggest strength and my weakness.Thayirsaadhamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10631677748262672177noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12034959.post-1116987121653803052005-05-24T19:03:00.000-07:002005-05-25T19:07:19.400-07:00Aiyyo!Cha - Ennoda friends'ku konjam kooda timing theriyala. But Anyways, You read on.Sure to make your day, if not mine!

#A married man left from work early one Friday afternoon. Instead of going home, however, he squandered the weekend (and his salary) partying with the boys.

When he finally returned home on Sunday night, he ran into a barrage of epithet from his wife.
After a couple of hours of nagging and berate, his wife asked "How would you like it if you didn't see me for a couple of days?"

"That would suit me just fine!!!" the man said.

Monday went by, and the man didn't see his wife.

Tuesday went by with the same result.

Wednesday went by with the same result.

Thursday, the swelling went down a bit and he could see her a little, just out of the corner of his left eye.#

Idhu eppadi irukku?!
Thayirsaadhamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10631677748262672177noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12034959.post-1116860470368269632005-05-23T07:54:00.000-07:002005-08-13T04:40:04.823-07:00Paavam Thayirsaadham ;-(Oooh aaah ouch! - Remember this 80's Ad for a pain-balm?? This is exactly the state that I’m in....With the great ME moving into a new apartment. Home-alone now.

There is so much running around that you do when you set up a new home. It gets too exhausting. But I look back and there were some hilarious moments too;-D

So many struggles I went through for the new gas connection that is simply not worth it. When I went to apply for it, I was told that it would take a maximum of three days to get it. Thought that was cool. I waited in vain. For 10 days. I went to their office, fuming with anger and I just blew them apart. I told the guy if he didn't deliver the cylinder before the day-end, I would complain to the union finance minister. Now, wait, where the heck this came from?? I didn’t know. I blurted it out without even thinking. Luckily, that dud didn’t know either;-D. Effect? Cylinder delivered.

But I’m pissed off with that cylinder fellow so much that even today, if I am irritated with something or someone else, I feel like calling him and blasting ;-)

When I had gone to check out the apartment before finalising, the owner was
rolling out that the apartment is the best I could get in the near
vicinity (I must say-the apartment is very classy indeed). She mentioned about loads of facilities available. Gym was one of them. And I was certainly thrilled. I'm just realising now that there is no need for that. My entire apartment is a gym for me.....with washing clothes, cleaning the floor and vessels, sweeping......all by myself.....romba koduma. Guess if I don't consider washing machine, vacuum cleaner, dish washer as a necessity now....bet I will be forced to settle for stretcher and walking stick as a permanent feature at my home.

Indha toilet clean pannara velaye thalavali. evallavuthaan
thechaalaum, innum konjam clean pannalaamnu thonum.

Eppodaapa monday varum, officeku pogamaatenaanu irukku ;-D

Even 20 days after moving in to the apartment and 21 power cuts (It happens in Bangalore!!), I didn’t notice that we had a generator for uninterrupted power supply. I believe it involves just pushing the switch meant for that inside the apartment. I didn't know that. Yesterday, while I was walking down the corridor to get into my apartment, I noticed all other apartments had power and not mine. Out of curiosity, I checked with our ever-friendly watchman. He came into my apartment and showed how it works and asked me 'ghothillaavaa?' in kannada with a funny face;-@. I had to tell that guy that I had trouble pushing the switch upward (my BIG bloody ego!)

The watchman- Indha aiyaa daily apartmentula irukara ella car'ayum clean pannuvaaru, provisions saamaan vaangindu varuvaaru, vegetables vaangindu varuvaaru, two-wheeler ellam clean pannuvaaru, Bank povaaraam (!!)....but avar enna velai pannaraarunaa - Watchman velaiyaam ;-)) Naanum adha nambanum. Thala ezhuthu.

My marriage is coming up next month. Now you are thinking there is finally going to be someone to share my work.....hmmmm....I’m hoping that my work doesn't get doubled;-D !!Thayirsaadhamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10631677748262672177noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12034959.post-1116737904291809802005-05-21T21:55:00.000-07:002005-05-21T22:06:22.490-07:00Can you tell me??I attempted to get the Haloscan comment box on to my blog.
